I bet her father doesn’t like seeing her cursing that much.
Then again… Maybe that word only sticks out that much because it’s one of the few German ones that keep popping up now and then.
To be honest, I never feel comfortable using many other German curses ’cause I’m not sure which ones sound genuine and which sound like you’re going “well gee willikers!” or somesuch >__>

Well, “Scheiße” is rather harsh. (At least if used excessively.) The not-that-bad-on-the-curse-scale alternative would be “Mist” but I guess that is disqualified by its confusion potential with mist.
