Cube didn’t get this from anime. In anime, no one ever asks this question. Trying to ask generally results in blushing, a complete collapse of vocal cords, and/or death, and alien invasion. Heck, even sitting in a situation where you might even contemplate asking will spontaneously result in the cognizant character to put at least several additional feet of space between themselves and their potential SO, if not walls and sudden onset strange mutant abilities.

You know it’s a solid character OTP when you root for it before you find out that there’s a polly oliver in the mix.
Finding out who The Raccoon just added to the want, but at the same time shattered any hope it would happen.
What are you talking about? Cube is awesome and has stated before that “in the greatest stroke of realism in Kiwiverse, nobody cares who you like”, which is basically the primary reason for Cube’s rise from “Great Comicker” to “GREATEST Comicker”.
If it doesn’t happen, it would be because Steffi isn’t receptive to Chandra’s feelings. Not because of “ew, lesbians” (an ideology I quickly learned to resent as one).
For the record, I don’t really care about shipping. I just find it fun to do so (this is literally the only fandom I even think about it in), and accept whatever Cube does. If they happen to coincide with my own silly ideas, then it’s great! But I don’t hold resentment when things go badly.
In short:
If it seemed like I’m all dramatic and disliking the idea of Steffi X Ben, pouting and all, that’s just me being silly. I’ll accept whatever is best for the story.
(But if Steffi X Chandra actually became a thing, I would genuinely be ecstatic.)

I’m glad to hear there are people out there who are able to stand up for their beliefs without shoving it down ones throat, like so many gays and lesbians I know.
I am straight, but I don’t believe in forcing it on anyone, it’s your life live it how you want to. Unfortunately too many gays seem to think hat just because I’m I automatically hate them and they have to keep shoving gay philosophy in my face. I wish more people could be as accepting as you, so thank you for being an accepting person.

I check through my webcomics and find this comic. I subsequently expect the most comments I’ve ever seen for the first time I’ve seen an update. I come again later when I have time to read the comments, expecting many more and practically all of them to be about people’s shipping dreams, or attempts to subvert standard tropes. I was proved completely correct on all of these counts. I have evidently been on the Internet too long.
Also, Cube, try as hard as you might but you can’t stop the shippers. They can and will carry on regardless, just with AUs instead of ‘canon’ unverse. I felt the need to point this out as no-oone has done so explicitly yet, despite there being SEVENTY comments on romance.
I now wonder why I felt the need to write so much on a matter I ultimately care very little about. The curiosity to see where the comic goes vastly outweighs any desire I have to try and predict it, because that just ruins the fun.

At the risk of sounding confusing or easily being misconstrued (it is 03:00, after all), and to clarify the silly, crazy-sounding comments I always make:
I honestly have no expectations for “Kiwi Blitz”, so it’s not like I’m ever genuinely angry over developments. I always take each page at face value, and am constantly intrigued. If there’s on thing I learned from very early on wih KB, back before the first chapter even finished, it’s that there is almost nothing you can accurately predict, so it’s best to except nothing and accept everything. Actually, thanks to this attitude KB’s taught me, it lets me be a lot more collected for unexpected events (such as my co-homepage website, the tab next to Kiwi Blitz, having a big announcment declaring its closing in a month).

I didn’t even DREAM of the next pages. I’m not sure ANYONE did, actually.
So, just goes to prove my theory: KB is entirely up in the air and Mary Cagle is an imaginative GENIUS.
