Panel 1: looks like the officer got stabbed through the head. So was the guy who just died Black (and thus trope-tastic) or what he Hispanic or Arab?

New to killing (but strangely unphased)? Or maybe just first time going for the heart?
Something modern comic writers/artists (And movie and game devs) should take note of: Sometimes NOT showing the gore in graphic detail makes more of an impact due to the human imagination being much better at it.
Also, not filling the story with gorey, brutal deaths makes the eventual appearance of it THAT much more shocking.
