Clowns to the left, jokers to the right
I love Canis’s eyes in the last panel. I must admit, though, beyond his eyes he has a masterful pokerface.
Or maybe he just doesn’t care.
Brilliant! A DOG with a POKER face!
im more curious as to who is holding canis under fire.
Probably the person next line of the song “stuck in the middle with you”
I’m even more curious as to why he didn’t just open fire instead
Because that would make them a cold-blooded murderer!
Don’t you mean furderer?
….I’ll show myself out.
Based on the glove alone, it’s none of the police people, none of the fuzzys and not 42. So it’s someone we haven’t seen yet during combat. It also can’t be the Racoon, Benzene or Gear since none of them wear gloves. However since the gun is pointing “up” slightly, that means the person holding it is shorter than Canis.
Also the hammer of the gun isn’t pulled back, whoever is holding it doesn’t want to make a mistake.
Who says it has to be a glove, it could very well be Gear with her new automail arm, that I don’t believe we’ve seen yet.
I doubt Chandra would be wear a blue police shirt holding a pistol level to an adult’s head when she’s shorter than Blitz
Obviously you haven’t been around long enough to know that Chandra steals everything. Why not age, height, and firearms?
Best part is the “someone else” tag
I’m voting that “someone else” is either Ben, Chris, or Kurt.
With the added wildcard guesses of Gear and Winston.
I’m voting for Winston.
Please be SWAT and Mrs Bahia…
Wouldn’t SWAT have a bigger gun than a 38 Special?
I suspect that is just the right hand’s weapon. It makes more noise than the bazooka left arm mount Mrs Bahia has but is more accurate.
Remember Mr Bahia (not Lawnhead) had difficulty with the arm?
It’ll have to be a higher ranking police officer since the beat-level cops can’t use actual firearms.
Speculating who it could possibly be? I’m gonna go with the crazy option and say “Gear”.
I was thinking that too, but not sure if she is healed yet, and I would think she’d rather point her gun arm at the guy.
Thought she had a sword arm, and she would more likely side with the Furries (certainly not side with Blitz)
Ah, but that’s where the “Crazy” comes in, because of Blitz’s robot leg, Gear feels a commonality towards Blitz, and she seems kind of like one of those badguys who wants to “Nurture” their nemesis, kind of like with Slade and Robin, and she doesn’t want anyother bad guys to get in the way, so she “helps” Blitz, as to “keep” her all to herself.
Curiouser and curiouser. Definitely doesn’t fit any character we’ve seen in this scene yet. He/She has a revolver instead of a stun gun (so not a common police officer), but it also doesn’t fit the chief’s sidearm (also he didn’t wear gloves).
I’m thinking the blue sleeve might not necessarily be a police uniform (although granted the color matches), but I’m not sure who else it could be at this point.
It’s the chief. That’s not a glove. That’s his robotic hand, after he took off the human-skin glove he was wearing over it.
You saying Chief is actually Reed, came back from the future to be his own father (serious Oedipus complex going on there) and save the day? o_O
I think it’s a pretty safe bet to say that’s Papa Reed, guys. though he wasn’t wearing gloves last time we saw him, but that might just be Cube. maybe it isn’t a safe bet.
Chief Bahia was my guess, too.
Another vote for the Commish. No one else in a blue uniform should be wielding an actual firearm. I guess the dog ears are just for show if someone was able to walk up beside him undetected.
Yup, this is my thought too. he seems the glove wearin’ type.
What if it’s Ben in a dorky disguise?!
Then I’m screenshotting it and making it into an avatar.
Ben is too short, the arm is level, and at adult head height.
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you! (thank you for all the pins by the way. Great seeing you at Otakon. XD )
I’m betting on the chief but if its Benzene in a dorky disguise I might lose it
ITS FUNNY CAUSE HIS GUN IS A SEMI-AUTO
And curse you for posting that before I could.
Guess ur posting skills aren’t full auto
Do we really have to keep firing when the trigger has already been pulled?
I’m guessing it’s Steffi’s dad. The gun is too classical to be owned by any of the police.
Oh my gosh, that’s my guess too!
The snub-nosed .38 revolver was standard issue for detectives back in the 60′s and 70′s before they shifted to the semi-automatic pistols. It’s compact enough to remain undetectable in a shoulder holster. Just the kind of “antique” a division chief would keep for nostalgic purposes. Not useful against body armor, but at point-blank range and aimed in an ear… very deadly.
That said… when we LAST were looking in on the chief, he was pinned down behind the car and about to get executed. Something radical would have had to happen for him to be here now getting Rover’s attention.
Actually, snubnosed revolvers are still very popular today. Gun manufacturers still produce lots of them, and are even making newer, updated models. So this gun doesn’t have to be that old.
My guess too. Steffi’s dad only fixed up the kiwibot and allowed Steffi to continue her vigilantism on condition that he be allowed to get in on the action too, so he could keep an eye on her. Alternatively, it could be “employee lady” deciding to be a bit more proactive about the security of her charges than she has been in the past. Or, if I can be allowed to hedge my bets still further, it’s Winston. One of those three. Of course, my track record for guessing isn’t very good.
I win automatically. With my automatic.
Looks like the arm belongs to a copper tho, the sleeve is blue.
I don’t think that’s a member of the NYPD in the last panel. The shade of blue on that sleeve is different from Cho’s, and even from the Chief’s back on page 324. BLU Spy, perhaps?
Sorry mystery dude, but uzi still beats .38. I mean, yeah you’re winning, but it’s not due to superior firepower.
Depends what he has in the other hand.
Absolutely, because Canis can swing his uzi around fast enough to shoot the guy before he gets his point blank in-your-face shot off.
It’s not always about firepower. A BFG that can’t hit its target when it counts is will always be beaten by a smaller gun that can.
Who has already bought something online? Who’d be smart enough to get something concealable?
Criss Cross! Criss Cross! Reverse Reverse!… get cause she said clowns to the left and… it sounded like the electric slide song and… I’ll be in my corner
Will no one point out the glorious pun Canis said? “I win automatically” That was just lovely.
Just as with the uzi, Cube, nice job referencing the snubnosed revolver. I even notice that you’ve got the lug and the number of chambers in the cylinder (5) down.
It’s Benzene standing on a shipping crate to get the extra height. And to answer the post about whether or not an uzi is better than a .38: ask yourself this – do you think you can swing that fully automatic weapon 90 degrees before I can pull this trigger?
well lets see its a metal hand and a cop uniform but the hand isnt red and reed wasnt wearing a uniform does anyone else have a metal hand on the good guy side
Who said it was a metal hand?
Question: how effective would one of those stun rounds be if it hit someone right between the eyes? Specially at that close of range
They hold the same charge each. Each round would be set to incapacitate a target on contact. High enough voltage to disrupt all motor control, low enough to not cause lasting harm.
Probably slightly less powerful than zarping.
So, extremely effective if hit right between the eyes then
It would be just as effective if shot at the foot, arm, buttocks, etc. Electricity doesn’t discriminate.
Depending on the power (not getting into the whole ‘voltage’ vs ‘wattage’ vs ‘ampage’ thing), you could shake off the effects if hit in the but-tocks, but not so if right between the eyes (the same power that might make your ass-cheeks numb might do nasty things to your brain, if not your eyes at least)
OH MY GOSH, GUYS. I JUST REALIZED THE LAST PANEL IS TOTALLY THIS NATIONAL LAMPOON COVER
What is wrong with that dogs left eye?
Things I’ve learned recently: if any of these bullets that everybody is threatening to shoot pierces one of the unopened containers nearby, toxic gases will probably jet out of the hole.
See, for long distance oversea travel, they fill the containers with toxic gases to “protect” the content from rats and insects and fungi and stuff. It’s even a mandatory measure from ISPM 15 (look it up) to prevent invasions by pests hidden in packing material. Customs agents have a special procedure to open containers while staying as far away as possible to the side of the door, and let them vent for at least a half hour before inspecting the content.
Unless all these containers are empty…
Or already been inspected
