I wish I could give you this whole chapter at once
Though actually this is kinda fun
………gonna be a LOOONG weekend waiting to see how this goes down.
That’s a strange looking walkie-talkie that Cho is trying to give Jones. Must be one of those new-fangled futuristic ones.
no silly, that’s obviously a radar gun. Jones is speeding.
On the bullet train.
Now the question is, who is the traitor?!
I love that ad bots have a sense of humor now. It’s less funny here, but can you imagine this post popping up randomly in other threads? Priceless! XD
I’m thinking that’s less an ad bot and more just a guy with a business to advertise, though it’s interesting how using the business itself as a user name depersonifies (word?) our perception of them.
Yet the person with a robot as an avatar is definitely perceived as human. Are you perhaps an anti-ad bot? An AI sent from the future in a war against a growing corporate empire?
I would discourage violence.
Whoops, I can see some red rings in your eyes.
I don’t think it’s even a guy with a business to advertise, just a guy with personal portfolio site to show off his creations, a site that just happens to have a strong “business” vibe even though it isn’t actually selling anything. Sometimes you can’t judge a book by its cover.
In fact if you look at his “comic archive” You’ll see that his name is Daniël de Ridder, and his site is a school project.
I don’t really get why you think he’s a bot just because he has a website?
What a twist!
Her “I’m the traitor” and “You’re the traitor” faces look too similar! Wait, this may just be her “I’m surprised you have a first name” face…
If one of them’s the traitor, I’m going with Celesta.
Cho is just not amused with all this betrayal!
Truly it could go either which way. But Jones feeling the need to “take a look around” in this place is at least as suspicious as Cho pointing a gun to her face. Furthermore, Jones was the one who “called the SWAT guys,” so she’s supposed to know better than anyone else where and, more importantly, WHEN the hell they should be.
Furthermore, Gods only know what that call actually entailed, or even if it was the SWAT she called. In the bet between which one of them is the non-traitor, I’m on Cho’s side.
This entire page is a little off. No cop, in an unknown situation, should have wandered off without a partner, and no cop should have let her. Even if no one is a traitor, wandering around like that is a good way to alert the criminals, and get yourself get taken hostage, or be shot. This is all kinds of drama, and I like it, but it’s we are heading into some sort of “______ ball” trope territory.
To be fair, there was a ghastly war between now and then and maybe it’s a matter of manpower and/or everybody in the police force is (theoretically) wired up enough that HQ ought to know what’s going on and so it’s okay to split up like that, or maybe the Chinchilla Street Riots of 20XX caused a lot of new blood to be roped into the Force and were never properly trained, or maybe the freight containers are full of Idiot Gas and are slowly leaking?
“Truly it could go either which way. ” This was a typo statement because I do not actually feel this to be correct. Disregard it.
Still, I agree. Thinking about it that way adds more, not less, suspicion to Jones… the wisdom of moving out on your own notwithstanding in a comic about 15-or-something year-old vigilantes and furry murder squads.
Calling it now, this is one of those “there’s a threat(snake/bad-guy) just over your shoulder” moments.
Cho’s dead eyes and Jones’ innocent expression make it seem obvious to me that Cho is up to no good here, but this would be an enjoyable twist.
On one hand, hoping Cho is the traitor, and yet, on the other foot, hoping neither is
Ooo, speculation time: Cho sent Reed Jr. the invite so she can shoot his girlfriend in the face in front of him and say “That’s because you chose her over me!”
But they don’t carry live ammo still…
Celesta “I didn’t know you had a first name” Jones sent Reed the email telling him to meet her here. Celesta wanders off and Jones gets suspicious.
GAH. Celesta and Jones are not two different characters. I meant Cho. Gath.
Is it bad that I read your post, and automatically saw a pretty princess pony wandering off, making Jones suspicious?
That’s more likely a taser. Barrel is too wide to be a gun.
Looks like CHO is taking this comic in the right direction… to an abrubt end.. hahahah
I can see it now….Cho’s secretly in love with Reed and she’s taking out the competition….
Reed’s Closet-Yandere Partner Cho
Ogod. Are we taking wagers for what’s going down? O.O I have a feeling one of them is Cebus, because they’re referred to as “taking care of it” back in the Bad Guy Chatroom. My suspicions are on Celesta…
As long as Jones doesn’t get killed in the process, I’m okay with Cho being a traitorous *beep*and getting put down.
I’m conflicted, if Cho is evil I will be sad, but on the other hand I don’t want Reed to lose his waifu. Then again, with Jones out of the picture Reed/Cho could become a possibility.
I will repeat the fact that the gun in question does not contain live ammo. Only stun rounds.
And there are no live rounds anywhere in this world?
Not with that gun type. The barrel isn’t proper for shooting rockets or other lethal ordinance. It needs to be a circle to contain that.
But a shot to the face, with one of those rectangular rods those guns fire, at that close range, still completely lethal
Still no, they shock on impact not penetrate. No penetration = no lethality. Also their speed of fire is slow as they are easily dodged by Gear.
She managed to get hit a couple times, and even a beanbag can kill
Umm, so a baseball bat to the face won’t kill because it doesn’t penetrate?
Holy Shi’ite! What the sam-hill is going on here! Ummm….is Cho the bad guy? Is Celesta the bad guy? Could it’ve been that Cho’s been suspicious and curious yellow about Celesta’s where-a-bouts?
Could it be Cho’s been compromised somehow so she’s gotta cover up everything?
Wow. This is getting VERY INTERESTING!!!! (INDEED)…
Neither one is the traitor, but Cho is making sure Jones isn’t one. Cho has consistently been a stickler for protocol and Jones is breaking it by wandering off alone. Cho has the gun out as a prelude to a “If I was the traitor you’d be dead now you moron – don’t wander off alone in hostile territory” speech. the traitor will actually be someone higher up, who called off the swat team without telling the cops.
Hello KB peeps! (Blitzers, maybe? Idunno, still working on the name)
I just came over from the Trenches and got hooked. Now I’m completely caught up, but I’m kinda wishing I hadn’t timed it to be caught up such a cliffhanger. 0.0
Such is the way of webcomics friend. You’ll always read up to the least convenient moment.
Unless you don’t. But then it’s the second least convenient moment.
…welcome to the comic.
Thanks! And I hear ya about the webcomic thing.
I’m kind of obsessed with webcomics right now. Like, all of them. So it’s taking up a good chunk of my time.
BUT they’re just so awesome, and there are robots and funny times and also dramaticness and I MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT AGGH
I came into this comic during the furry bar scenes. So things were confusing for a while.
So I’m seeing three possibilities;
1. Cho is a traitor
2. Jones is a traitor and Cho knows
3. there’s someone standing behind Jones that we can’t see
I miss any?
the third seems unlikely seeing as she followed jones directly, rather than seeing something and impromptu shooting it.
4: Where did you get that first name? I want one…
But we know her first name =) it’s Reed’s partner, as Cube said.
Commishioner Gordan Chief Reed said he was going to call HQ, and then just stands around while Barney Fife plays Tetris with the phone? O_o
with a square hole like that. i’m surprised it can actually shoot anything.
KB’s future bullets are actually square http://www.kiwiblitz.com/comic/track-06-15/
Those are stun rounds as I mentioned earlier. Live ammo requires a round hole.
The square hides the round bullet holes. There may be a tazer option in the gun (for convinience), but it can fire bullets.
That would be tech, and if we remember from the early days…
They have neither the resources nor legal rights to do their job anyways.
Damn it you tease….
So, looking at the crew, we have:
The Chief – Dad, but doesn’t seem thrilled with the tech arm Reed got, but otherwise normal, and also could have the ability to call off a raid
Cho – who we know emails Reed occasionally and has kept him informed, thuis the likely person to tell him of the raid
Celesta – Reed’s girlfriend, but seems to be a bit of a ditz – ulterior motive? Stay close to the chief’s son and get info that way? bit of a stretch, although she was the one to “notify” SWAT and has the details
Flores – Guyng ho afer the snake guy
Barnes – bit of an unknown, although what cop would make the rookie mistake of smoking during a pre-raid and possibly mark their position? Add to that the use of unapproved apps on the unit phjone? Easy way to port info out surreptitiously maybe the plant…
1% on Cho, 7% on Dad, 12% on Flores, 38% on Celesta, and 42% on Barnes. Anyone else have any ideas?
