Talking To Your Dad Blitz
“First order of business: gossip.”
And we ALMOST found out Bahia Sr.’s name!
Judging by the justification, we’re missing 3 or 4 letters, the last of which is likely an ‘I’. My guess is Whitlow.
i was going to go with batlow, but your idea makes more sense
How have we missed Marlow? It’s like Matlock only not quite
I’m going with Gritlow or Nightlow, both of which are excellent cop names. Maybe Fightlow.
Awe crud… now I have a sneaking suspicion that he’s part of the Alter group.
I think it’s an A before the LOW because the angle is like a \
It could be an ‘N’, with Reed’s cheek covering up the rest of the ‘|’
To be fair I used a scrabble word finder to get the Whitlow. Words ending in tlow. That was the only one that appeared and fit. There is Matlow and Fetlow but neither of those would fit the vertical line. And the reason I panic is because of the word itself:
A whitlow or felon is an infection of the tip of the finger.
“Bring her over for dinner some time.”
I don’t care what his actual name is he shall forever be Squatlow to me.
Ohhh my life this is a great comment
SO NAMED FOR
HIS KILLER SQUATS
Man, how did this even happen? Like, following in your dad’s footsteps I get, but I feel like most people would’ve like moved to the next city over or something. Is Junior just that hardcore devoted to his city or something? I’m not even sure Batman loves Gotham as much as that.
Strictly speaking, same city is pretty common. Same precinct is unusual, and same department in the same precinct is rarely okay. Having one family member in another family members’ chain of command just doesn’t happen anymore, though. Its gives the appearance of possible nepotism, which is hazardous to morale, even if everything really is above the board.
Heck, having a family member in the same hemisphere can lead to calls of nepotism
Nepotism is probably exactly how it happens.
Though in a dangerous field like police work, maybe Naughtlow sees it as a way to keep his son safer. Why Reed would not decide to leave in such a situation is beyond me though, unless it really is nepotism and he would be demoted to traffic duty otherwise. His relationship with his father seems to be a bit strained, from first appearances, so I suspect he’d leave if he could.
He would probably be demoted to traffic duty at the busiest intersection during rush hour because his dad is the CoP of another precinct/city
Dating your co-worker? No problem.
Assisting the Batman of this comic? Problem.
To be fair, she isn’t an entirely competent. or an adult.
That’s a terrible thing for a police officer to do. Dating an incompetent child coworker.
I’m fairly certain the last adjective makes it a crime as well.
Same scene, different characters.
Yup, seems that all the characters are having talks with their dads at this point. I would actually be interested in seeing Chandra’s family and how they interact.
For the longest time, I thought that thing around his face was some sort of communication device. Only now did I realize it’s just a beard.
And: legal ramifications of Reed’s action. I smell Lawful Neutral from the chief of police.
Also: Funny that Reed’s dad approves even if Jones is a good officer/person. Why? As Chief of Police, I’d expect him to be wary of having romantic relationships with your co-workers, especially a fellow police office.
Wait, has Papa Reed always had that beard…?
That is not a beard. It’s only a chin curtain. Beards cover the space between chin and mouth as well as cheeks.
It’s an Amish throat-warmer
I like how Chief Bahia doesn’t even care that his son is out of the hospital. Or that he’s got a freaking robot arm now. Did he even go to visit at the hospital?
He could at least have sprung for a hello, you know just for the special occasion.
I think it all sort of goes in the “dealings with Blitz” label, what’s actually makes some sense.
*After the last panel*
Reed: I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Somehow I see Chief Bahia being similar to http://maxpayne.wikia.com/wiki/Jim_Bravura
I always reckoned if I ever had some superhero-related secret I’d just explain to my loved ones “you trust me, and it’s not that hard for you to imagine a situation where I’d have to keep a secret because something is just beyond explanation, right?”
that’s why it pays to be trustable
This is Daddy’s way of saying he’s been secretly shipping them for ages.
All the computer components magically disappeared when Reed entered.
I’ve noticed that, but his desk would be big and he moved over a bit.
I wish I could go into the future (hopefully the far future) just to get online and read this whole comic all the way through rather than this one at a time torture D:
Great stuff though, keep it up! And don’t drop out mid-series like most comics end up doing
I remember doing something like this years ago, except it was in the principal’s office.
Last two panel: BUSTED!
