Well the exact rule is “A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.”. She’s technically taking an action, and not directly harming anyone.
Or to further go on Asimov laws, KO-ing someone with a stungun isn’t harmful, but killing someone is harm, so the Asimov laws state that 42 is REQUIRED to stop Tigris.
That depends if the definition of human is biological (big pain, requires testing to confirm), cultural, or morphological. Morphology would be the easiest. Until you add cat ears and a tail.
…or through inaction allow a human to come to harm? I don’t think 42 is actually meant to follow the 3 laws as they were written, as she should’ve stopped Ben as well if that were the case.
Not sure how they’re planning to sneak the unconcious animal people out of the building to hand them over to the police, but if they take more than Mr. Snake, I could see Chandra getting pretty upset over it since she didn’t want some of the other people there involved. Might get mad anyway about them getting beaten up.
Alternately, if they figure out this was Blitz, our little Raccoon could be asked some uncomfortable questions since she was seen working with her…
“When did you get here?” is an excellent question Tigris, but you probably also should have been asking “How are you gripping my sword without cutting your fingers off?”
Apart from the other references, do I detect a Waltons reference here? “Goodnight Dog Boy” “Goodnight Mary Ellen … I mean Tigris”. Well, maybe, maybe not.
Always find the whoel “Three Laws” comments amusing. Nothing has ever said that 42 is bound to them, or that they even exist in KB. The only thing said is that she can’t directly harm a human or one of her siblings.
Fighting like cats and dogs.
… I’m sure I’m the first one to make this comment.
Considering it was used back in the days of William Shakespeare, no, no you aren’t…
Nice assist
42′s quoting the HAL 9000. Nice.
Whaaaaaat!?
I totally didn’t catch that!!!
Oh, I thought she was quoting Star Wolf, XD
can’t let you do that fox XD
I instantly read it in that voice, recognising it, and now I can’t stop reading ALL of 42′s lines as HAL.
I’m imagining that in a much cuter voice than HAL’s.
I’ve been reading her lines since her introduction as a strange cross between Hal, GlaDOS and Deep Thought… My brain works in mysterious ways…
Instantly caught that too, and had a chuckle. Good catch, Blitskrieg.
42, putting the ‘machina’ in ‘deus ex machina’.
Except in this case, the deus IS the machina.
Deus est machina, then.
That was a nice switch there
To be fair, I got a D in my Latin class.
Er, I meant it in the way of saying “I couldn’t say deus est machina because I forgot about est. Good job on that.”
~~ZARP~~
I like that sound effect!
the extra letter multiplies the implied power by a factor of three, a necessary precaution when dealing with genetically modified beings.

dratted double publishes
poor tiger lady….
…..
GO 42~! : D
Woohoo!!!
NOW GO SAVE STEFFI
I`m sure she’s alright.
A bit flat maybe. But alright.
Aha, clever! She can’t directly harm the humans, but she can certainly immobilize them and allow someone ELSE to harm them.

Does Tigris technically still count as a “human being” in the letter of the laws anyway?

The question is… are they truly human anymore or rather… are they transhumans… Technicalities!
perhaps stunning someone doesn’t qualify as “harm” in her files
While attempting to kill someone with a katana does.
And nobody lost blood which is all 42 could actually step in and change.
…Tigris? Stop smiling. Please. You’re scaring the children.
Hey, you can’t get to slashing if you don’t have a proper slasher smile.

I love the sound effect zarp.
Page 293: “In which Tigris displays a wide range of emotions, all depicted quite beautifully.”
I also just noticed Tigris’ zettai ryouiki from that one pose in the first panel. Usually her skirt covers the bare skin/fur, as seen in Panel 7.
Ben just turned her into a Thunder Cat.
Oh wait, thunder is the sound not the electric energy. Whatever.
…Cube, you are so punny it makes me smile.
He is a wolf! Say his name! Holo the Wise–
Never mind. And please don’t give me any Holo versus Horo shenanigans.
HAL 9000 quotes for justice!
“When did you get here?” is an excellent question Tigris, but you probably also should have been asking “How are you gripping my sword without cutting your fingers off?”
Zarp Dat Azz!
Na, it’s Zarp dat booty. I suddenly feel dirty…
Yeah, a butt-zap seems kind of rude, but you do what you need to do.
katanas out, bit players in, tension building. O hai guys! Taser to the bum.
Tigris: What? WHAT!?
Ben: In The Butt!
First time i’ve heared of butt-zarping before o_______o

I am glad I found this web comic. I like it a lot. I spend the better part of day to go though all the pages in one sitting.
I sure hope 42′s gloves aren’t electrically conductive.
My thoughts exactly. Any chance some voltage shot up to zap 42 as well?
Not being organic would mean that 42 wouldn’t be harmed by a stun gun. It’s not an EMP so no worries.
ZAAAARP!
“say good night, dog boy.”
“good night dog boy.”
Ben’s wolf colour scheme and electric attack reminds me of Tiger from the Monster Rancher series, notably the one from the anime, a purebreed Tiger.
